Six-Compartment VOC Emission Environmental Test Chamber Test Procedure
Many people search online for instructions on using VOC emission Environmental Testing Chambers, but the methods found are often incomplete. Below, the manufacturer will guide you through the testing procedures for a VOC emission environmental testing chamber. The following example uses the HYV-60-4 environmental chamber.
I. Preparation of the VOC Emission Environmental Testing Chamber
First, clean the inner walls of the chamber with an alkaline cleaning agent (pH ≥ 7.5). Then, wipe the inner walls of the VOC emission environmental testing chamber with deionized water. Open the chamber door and turn on the fan until the chamber is dry. For high-boiling-point pollutants that are difficult to clean, organic solvents such as ethyl acetate or anhydrous ethanol can be used for cleaning.
II. Determination of Background Concentration in the VOC Emission Environmental Testing Chamber
Close the chamber door, purify the air, and start the test. The test time is 24 h ± 1 h, with the moment the chamber door is closed as time 0. Measure the background concentration inside the chamber after 24 hours of sealing. Collect two blank samples for parallel testing. The relative deviation between the two test results should be less than 20%. The average result should meet the requirements. If it does not, the chamber must be cleaned again according to regulations.
III. VOC Emission Environmental Testing Chamber Specimen Placement
Place the specimen of the specified size directly in the center of the chamber, ensuring a uniform airflow over its surface. For liquid specimens, prevent sample from dripping onto the chamber surface. Specimen placement should be completed within 30 seconds. Quickly close the chamber door and begin the test.
IV. Sampling Time
Place the specimen as specified. Starting at time 0 (the moment the chamber door is closed), the specimen will continuously release air under the test conditions inside the chamber. The sampling time is less important than the test objective. Air sampling can be conducted on days 1 (24 h), 3 (72 h), 7 (168 h), 14 ± 1 day, 28 ± 2 days, and 56 ± 2 days after the start of the timer. The number of samplings or the release time can also be increased appropriately.
